Rituals are ceremonies conducted at the appropriate Pentacle by sacrificing items, books, and sometimes even living creatures to summon spirits from The Other to do the summoner's bidding.

Conducting a Ritual[]

To conduct a ritual, you will need a Sacrificial Bowl for each item involved, in addition to the Golden Sacrificial Bowl that is already required.

Holding each item in hand, right-click on an empty bowl to place it. Right-clicking with an empty hand will remove it and place it back into your inventory; right-clicking with a different item will swap them.

Binding a Book[]

Each ritual requires a Book of Binding of the appropriate spirit type, bound to a demon by its name. This book is always the last item placed in the ritual, and always into the gold-rimmed bowl in the center of the circle. To bind a book to a demon, simply combine it with your Dictionary of Souls in a crafting interface. This will not use up the Dictionary.

Once the book is placed, if that is all that is required for the ritual, purple dust will begin to shake off of the book, and the items will begin to disappear from the bowls one at a time as they are accepted. Once all the items have disappeared, the resulting item or spirit will appear as requested near the center of the circle.

Item Use and Sacrifices[]

Some rituals require the additional use of an item or the sacrifice of a creature. In these cases, the book will instead emit or gray dust particles as it awaits the sacrifice.

When you see the gray particles, use the item or kill the creature within 16 blocks of the center bowl. If the sacrifice is accepted, the dust should turn purple and the ritual should proceed. Bringing sacrificial creatures to the pentacle can be simplified with the use of a Soul Gem.

Rituals Listed by Purpose[]

Summoning[]

Rituals for bringing spirits in from The Other for a specific task. Weaker spirits decay over time, and will eventually disappear and return to their plane.

Familiars[]

Rituals for summoning creatures that constantly grant their owner special buffs or provide other benefits. Once summoned, familiars can be contained in a Familiar Ring and worn as a Curio.

Unbound Summons[]

Binding[]

Rituals for creating magical items with specific uses.

Possession[]

Rituals for summoning spirits and forcing them to take the shape of a creature not commonly available. Some resulting creatures are guaranteed to drop specific items on death, saving the summoner the trouble of traveling to other dimensions or wasting time hoping for rare items.
